Recipe: All Natural Homemade Granola

Everything’s better when it’s homemade! Storebought granola can have upwards of 20 ingredients on the label, many you can’t even pronounce. And it’s often loaded with added sugars, artificial colors and an insane amount of Calories. Making your own at home is an easy way to take charge of your mornings, and know exactly what’s fueling your body. Family Style’s homemade granola has no added sugars, and the addition of coconut oil means you get a healthy dose of fat (12g) per serving. Don’t be scared. While coconut oil is made up primarily of saturated fat, it is unique in that its fat is mostly medium chain triglycerides, which research has shown may help aid brain function*.   1. 4 Cups Oats, uncooked
  2. 1 Tsp. Cinnamon
  3. ½ Tsp. Salt
  4. 1 Cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  5. ¼ Cup Coconut Oil, warmed to liquify
  6. ½ Cup Almonds, Raw
  7. ½ Cup Dried Unsweetened Cherries
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix applesauce and coconut oil together using a non-stick spatula.
  4. In a larger bowl toss all dry ingredients to combine.
  5. Add wet ingredients to dry and use spatula to coat everything evenly.
  6. Spread the granola mixture in a single layer on the baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, mixing at around 15 minutes so oats will evenly brown.
  8. Remove from oven and allow to cool for about 15 minutes, then transfer to an airtight container for storage.

  2. Serve ½ cup granola with ½ cup unsweetened yogurt and top with some berries for a filling, nutritious breakfast that's packed with whole grains, fiber and antioxidants!
